Rating Boulder Trails for Dog Zoomie Potential
From an Expert Dog Hiker in Lafayette
Not all trails are created equal when it comes to happy dogs.
After hundreds of miles on Boulder County trails, I’ve learned that some trails bring out the best in dogs —more sniffing, more exploring, more confidence, and yes … more zoomies!
Here are three of my favorite local trails and how they rank for Dog Zoomie Potential.

What Makes a Great Dog Trail?
When I’m evaluating a trail, I’m looking for more than scenery.
The best dog trails provide:
Mental enrichment
Safe footing
Opportunities to sniff and explore
Space to decompress
Appropriate levels of stimulation
A good trail leaves a dog physically tired and mentally fulfilled.
