1. Service Overview
Ruff Terrain provides professional, on-trail dog hiking adventures for dogs in Lafayette, Louisville, and the surrounding Boulder area. All hikes are conducted by experienced handlers familiar with local trails and trained in pet first aid.
2. Eligibility
To participate, dogs must:
Be in generally good health
Be up to date on vaccinations
Be socialized and not aggressive toward other dogs or humans
Be free of contagious illnesses or parasites
Be at least 9 months old
We offer a free meet and greet before the first hike to ensure your dog is a good fit for trail activities.
3. Safety and Trail Conditions
Hikes take place in outdoor environments that may include uneven terrain, variable weather, and wildlife. We prioritize your dog’s safety at all times and may modify routes or cancel/reschedule hikes based on weather or trail conditions.
4. Owner Responsibilities
Owners agree to:
Disclose any known medical or behavioral issues
Provide all necessary gear (harnesses, medications, treats, etc.)
Ensure dogs are accessible at the scheduled pickup time
Notify Ruff Terrain promptly of any changes in your dog’s health or behavior
5. Emergency Care
In the event of a medical emergency, we will attempt to contact you immediately. If you are unavailable, we will act in the best interest of your dog, including seeking veterinary care if necessary. You are responsible for any resulting veterinary costs.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made with at least 24 hours' notice will not be charged.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a 50% charge.
No-shows (no one home and no prior notice) will be charged the full hike fee.
If Ruff Terrain cancels due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, you will not be charged, and we will work with you to reschedule.
